EXTEND - Movement to Music for the Over Sixties and Less Able
People
EXTEND provides recreational movement to music for men and women over-sixty and for less able people of all ages.
Our mission
is to promote health, increase mobility and independence, improve strength, co-ordination and balance and to counteract loneliness and isolation,
thereby
"enhancing the Quality of Life"
EXTEND is an exercise to music programme for clients who are either over the age of sixty or who experience
mobility problems.
The sessions aim to:
- Increase mobility and independence
- Improve strength, stamina, posture and co-ordination
- Provide a fun, social environment to decrease isolation
- Provide information and support on addressing the issues surrounding falls
Clients who may find the sessions of benefit include
- clients who have experienced a fall and may be following a rehabilitation programme to reduce the
risk of further falls
- clients who have concerns about falling and wish to prevent an initial fall
- clients who have lower mobility levels and would like to become more active
- individuals who wish to increase their activity levels and meet new people
The sessions are usually about an hour in length and follow a group format. They can be done seated
or standing depending upon each client’s mobility levels. The individual exercises can be tailored by the instructor
to meet a client’s specific needs.
